Bridge Inspector – United States

Project Summary:

The Federal Highway Administration recently awarded the AVS – HDR Joint Venture a Long Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) contract. The LTBP Program itself is anticipated to be a 20-year or longer research effort, focused on detailed inspection, periodic evaluation and monitoring using advanced sensor technologies from a representative sample of bridges throughout the United States. This includes field evaluation, testing and monitoring. Through the efforts of the LTBP, it is expected to not only develop advanced automated tools and technologies as well as advanced data analysis and visualization tools, but also to develop standards and protocols to improve knowledge of bridge performance.  Alta Vista will be providing qualified technicians and engineers to assist in data mining and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bridge inspection using the FHWA RABIT equipment (training will be provided)
  • Serve as the primary role in field data collection and performance monitoring.
  • Responsible for the daily safe and efficient operation of NDE equipment, including electrical resistance, impact echo, ultrasonic surface waves, ground penetrating radar, ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle testing

Construction Engineer – Federal Lands

Position Summary:

The Construction Engineer will be responsible for performing assigned duties on construction projects for bridges and other transportation structures. Position requires thorough knowledge of civil/structural design, construction, and material engineering techniques to plan and perform independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of these techniques, procedures and criteria. Included in that role are analyses of complex structural engineering design and construction documents, drawings, reports, quality control reviews and providing timely material related recommendations. The individual will also be responsible for the management of the quality of materials incorporated into construction contracts.

Job Duties:

Position Summary:

Alta Vista Solutions is looking for a Field Inspector; inspectors are responsible for performing, coordinating and assuring all applicable codes and standards are met.

This position will report to either a site manager or project manager who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development. The employee in this position will work directly with clients on technical aspects of the projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements and deliverables clearly and concisely.

This position has openings in Arches, Utah and Flagstaff, Arizona and may require travel throughout the Western United States.

Job Duties:

Field Inspector – New York

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Field Inspector will be tracking and verifying Force Account documentation in the field for work tied to the numerous Design-Builder (DB) disputes/claims as well as merited extra work changes. This position will work within the oversight office but will work primarily in the field in a roaming manner across numerous daily work operations.

Job Duties:

  • Primary responsibility will be to track and monitor the DB’s construction operations and quality activities that are being documented by the DB to support their disputes/claims as well as merited changes;
  • Interface with both Authority oversight personnel as well as DB construction and quality teams to resolve and establish accuracy and appropriateness of daily force account documentation;
  • Produce thorough inspection reports and maintain detailed records of work performed;
  • Attend meetings and briefings; providing other advice and assistance;

Duties includes performing field and plant inspections during the production and placement of asphalt concrete, portland cement concrete, and other construction related material such as oil binder, aggregates, cements, and admixtures.  Inspectors will also visit quarries and mine pits to witness material source sampling, stockpiling and testing samples of binders, cement admixtures and other related materials.

Position Summary:

Primary duties include preparing aggregate reference samples for distribution to laboratories seeking annual qualification.  Duties may also include sampling and testing services for hot mix asphalt, concrete, aggregates, soil, cement, for Caltrans.

NDT Inspector – Los Angeles

Job Summary:

ASNT NDT and QA Construction Technician will perform independent testing and verification to ensure clients comply with applicable State and Federal laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties of a Source Inspector
  • Perform all duties of a Steel Inspector
  • For welds that are subjected to nondestructive tests (NDT), the Inspector shall verify that the frequency, number, and location of NDT are as required by the governing specifications. Tenant Build-out Oversight Engineer – New York

Overview:

Alta Vista is seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer to assist in performing oversight of design and construction of tenant build-outs throughout the MTA Facilities. This position will work within the oversight office and may occasionally visit various ongoing construction build-out projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review build-out design and construction plans, drawings, and specifications related to various aspects of construction build-outs including Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC);
  • Recommend approval, rejection, and/or revisions of plans, drawings, and specifications according to MTA and NY State requirements and procedures;
  • Interface with both Tenant’s Engineer, MTA Engineer, and Tenant Management Firm to resolve and facilitate preparation of acceptable design plans, drawings, and specifications;
